THE MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME (MTCP)

The Malaysian government started the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) program to attract the most talented students worldwide to pursue advanced academic courses in Malaysia. This fellowship intends to aid the Malaysian government’s initiatives to draw in, inspire, and keep brilliant foreign employees.

    1. Malaysia’s commitment to South-South Cooperation through the sharing of Malaysia’s development experiences and expertise with other developing nations led to the establishment of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) in 1980.

Annually, Malaysia’s flagship MTCP offers more than 60 technical training and capacity-building programs in vast areas of development to developing countries in collaboration with leading local training institutions and international development partners. More than 34,500 participants from 144 developing countries have benefited from the various programs offered under the MTCP.

The following requirements must be met by applicants in order to be eligible for the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS)

    • Be at most 45 at the moment of application.
    • Obtained a least of Second Class Upper (Honors) or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at the undergraduate level for Master’s degree applicants, and for Ph.D. candidates, they must have obtained a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 or a very excellent result at the Master’s degree level in a field of study that is related to their desired Ph.D. field.
    • Completed one of the English Language Proficiency Tests listed below up to two years before the application date. The required minimum test scores and list of tests:
        1. 6.5 or higher on the IELTS Academic Test.
        2.  Paper-based TOEFL test with a minimum score of 580, computer-based test with a minimum score of 230, or internet-based test with a minimum score of 92.
    • Qualified by a Certified Doctor/Medical Professional and in good physical condition. The candidates are responsible for covering the cost of the medical checkup.
    • Prepared a proposal pertinent to Malaysia’s requirements and interests (research-based program only).
